| "I think as far as the rear wheels go, the wider the better, until they start to rub the frame or body" The wider contact patch in the rear you go w/o widening the front will lead to tremendous understeer. The rear of the car has so much grip that it tends to drive the front. The reason you see cars with wider rears is do to better traction, but moreso to induce an understeer characterisctic to the car which is more desirable ot car manufactures. Understeer is desired by manufactures b/c feels more stable. I think i would want to increase the width of my front cantact patch in proportion w/ the increase of the rears. But Of course w/ big wide front and rear tires you would want to think about hydroplaning too
